Using Reddit as a girl

This is a question post but also an appreciation post for this subreddit ❤️
I usually stay in female-oriented subreddits but occasionally I’ll comment or post in a male-dominated subreddit and get absolutely shocked by the difference in responses. People calling me stupid, telling me to “just Google it” (fair but also I’m asking for opinions??), sending unwanted messages directly, etc.
Just wondering if other women have faced the same thing on Reddit, and have any tips for how to post in certain subreddits as to not solicit above responses. I don’t want to avoid male-dominated subreddits, as I work in a male-dominated industry and sometimes have questions for example. But it does tend to affect me negatively mentally.
Very grateful for girl communities that are supportive of other women 🫶
Top Comment: checking in with my male stealth username 😏 Seriously it’s worth it. From 2015-2021 I had a Reddit username that made it obvious I was female, and when I got rid of it, I couldn’t believe the difference in people’s reception of my ideas. Makes me angry actually.

Top Comment: Shoshana. What stands out most to me is when she showed up to comfort Hannah while the whole Adam/ MRH thing was going on and she was basically catatonic. Even though it wasn't successful, that's exactly how I'd want my friend to comfort me if I was going through it.
